After Eights Summer Walk, Wednesday 18th May, 2016
The night of Wednesday 18th May 2016 was rain-free for once, which was fortunate as it was the evening of the After 8’s summer walk. We usually have poor weather for this event, but this time it was fine. Sheila leads the walk and gathers information about the area she chooses.
This year it was Wykebeck. We parked the cars down Wetherby Road in the car park that used to be the outdoor swimming pool and crossed the road to the woodland path with Wykebeck running alongside. There were lots of bluebells and white garlic flowers in the wood. Sheila told us the history of the area. I think everyone found this interesting. We came out on to a road and did a circular route back to the car park. There were fifteen of us on the walk including Sheila. A good turnout. We went to the White House for a glass of wine afterwards. A very pleasant evening.
